Steels Restaurant, Cleethorpes ~Fishandchips ~ Food~ Review

It is now June!!  Where did the months go when I was not looking and when did it become summer?  The sun has been finally getting the message and getting to work!
On Friday afternoon Pirate Mick and I headed into Cleethorpes and ended up at Steels, a fish and chip restaurant in the market place. http://steelscornerhouse.co.uk/
We arrived at approximately 4.45pm and as there was no parking space in the market place so we parked in the nearby car park on the high street which is only a couple of minutes away. There is a fee to pay in the car park but not too expensive.
The entrance to Steels is up a few steps, which could be a little tricky for some people. Toilets are situated up some steps, so this needs to be taken into consideration if unsteady on your feet.
Pirate Mick and I were asked if we would like to be seated upstairs or in a booth downstairs. We chose down stairs.  The table was already set with place mats, sauces, menus, cutlery and paper napkins. It reminds me of a proper seaside retro cafe very much like the seaside cafe in the film ‘Little Voice’.
After browsing the menu, that has various meals, I chose small haddock and chips and Pirate Mick had medium haddock with garden peas.  Both came with bread and butter and a pot of tea.  There is a wide range of food on the menu to chose from for members of the family who are not keen on fish.
The tea was brought straight away, as was the bread and butter.
The restaurant became very busy whilst we were there, but everybody was seated quickly.  It was not long that our meal arrived and after checking if we needed anything else were left to enjoy the meal.
Both meals were lovely and filling.  There are various deserts on offer but we could not eat another thing.
The bill came to just under £20 which I feel was very good value for top quality fish and chips.
If you are having a day by the sea in Cleethorpes, North East Lincolnshire, then why not give it a try?
Do you have a favourite fish and chip cafe? In North East Lincolnshire we mainly choose haddock for our choice of fish, are you the same or different?
Love to hear from you!
