Some Enchanted Evening With Doris Day And Claire Teal ~Arts ~Entertainment ~Music

One of my idols, from musicals, is the beautiful ‘Doris Day’.  The first musicals I saw staring her was when I was a child, ‘Moonlight Bay’ and the sequel ‘By The Light Of The Silvery Moon’.
I also adored ‘Calamity Jane’ and was totally star struck when I worked, many years later, for Howard Keel.
Doris Day was born ‘Doris Mary Ann Kappeloff’ in 1922.
She was, in my opinion, not only a wonderful singer but an amazing comedy actress.  The first video I had was from ‘Woolworths’ and it was ‘That Touch Of Mink’ with Doris Day and the handsome Cary Grant.  I quickly purchased ‘Pillow Talk’ and ‘Lover Come Back’ with the equally handsome Rock Hudson.
I was delighted to hear that  Barton Arts Festival would be honouring Doris Day with Claire Teal’s tribute show ‘Claire Teal sings Doris Day’.   Claire Teal can also be heard on Radio 2.  http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b00m62h5

The concert was held in the ‘Joseph Wright Hall’ in Queen Street, Barton.  The bar for the evening was in the School  Museum next door ‘Wilderspin National School’.  A lovely little museum, shop and café.

The show started at 8pm and we knew that after going to the same venue last year we had to take cushions to sit on as the seats are definitely not comfortable .  Access is difficult and you have to go up very steep stairs to go down to the auditorium!!

The concert was fantastic.  Brilliant music and lovely presentation. Two hours of wonderful music and singing of some wonderful songs!!

The evening was finished by ‘Community singing’. You can not beat a bit of singing your troubles away!!
