A Hidden Gem At Caistor Lakes ~Lincolnshire ~Food ~Review

Often you stumble across a little gem and the other day, it happened.
We have driven past ‘Caistor Lakes’ many times and said we would call in one day and well this day finally arrived and what a surprise!

It is a leisure park set in seven acres. There are lakes or fishing, a caravan park and a lovely  Caistor Lakes restaurant which is currently open 7am-6pm except Sundays until 12 noon then Sunday lunch until 7pm. The cafe turns into a steakhouse in the evening, Wednesday to Saturday ,6pm until late.

Pirate Mick and I parked in the large car park and headed to the restaurant. We were quickly greeted at the door and directed to a table for two. We were intrigued by a curious buzzer on the table. One button is pressed when we know we want to order a drink another to order food and another to pay the bill. I felt like I was on ‘Britain’s got talent’ and so wanted to press the buttons!
In fact this button tempted me the whole time!!!
After looking at the menu we decided to have a drink and something to eat. Argh!! which button do I press?  I pressed the food symbol and hoped for the best! All seemed okay and somebody quickly came to take our order.

There is a vast menu from breakfasts, snacks, afternoon teas, cakes, and full lunches. Pirate Mick ordered  roast beef and horseradish sandwich with a salad garnish and coleslaw and I had the breaded brie melt with mixed leaves and tomato chilli jam. We also shared chips, which are chunky chips cooked in beef dripping and presented in a small chip pan basket. All very tasty.

We went to pay and we were asked if we would like to look around the site. As it was a glorious afternoon we said we would love to. There is a lovely walk around the three fishing lakes. There was a lot of wildlife, birds and ducks and plenty of planes overhead.
Everybody was very friendly and there was a lovely surprise to find a huge tortoise. What a beautiful animal.

I would recommend a visit if you are in the area and we shall certainly return soon.
