Oh my goodness, I have been so busy. I hope you are all more organised than I seem to be. I have been working very hard and there are often so many events, shows and occasions to attend in the run up to the big day. Not that I am in no way complaining about that!
One of the shows I was working at was at the ‘Piper Club’ in Hull. The brief for the costume was festive! I looked through my costumes and found a white short skater dress from Ann Summers I customised the costume with some more sequins, fur and beading. I love customising clothes as you know nobody will end up with exactly the same outfit as you.
I have a small pillbox snow leopard hat that I added fur around and this was the perfect accessory.
The show was fun, as is usually the case with festive shows. Audience members are usually in very high spirits.
During the show Ginger La Rouge performed a show stopping act in a giant champagne glass. Have a look at her performing the routine. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vDgufUNWTKE
Puppetual Motion had everybody in stiches. Here is a clip from another show. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=My0CXql5aIk
It will be the funniest sponge you will ever meet!!
This is why I love variety for acts like this! I love the off the wall acts, the singing puppets, the impersonators, the dancers. I love it when you end up thinking, ‘How on earth did you discover this!’ To me that is true variety and long may it continue!
What do you think? Has variety had its day? Do you love variety or think it is substandard entertainment? I would love to hear your views.
