Eat Out To Help Out ~ UK Government Scheme

Morning Lovelies!  It is a strange summer this year isn’t it? Due to that Covid 19 it means so many plans, events and, well let’s be honest, almost everything has either been cancelled or changed to adapt in some way or another!

This week sees the start of the UK’s governments scheme, running throughout August 2020 ‘Eat Out To Help Out‘  Places serving food, inside not takeaway, can apply for this scheme and if you are a customer you have to do nothing more than attend one of these venues, order your food and drink and enjoy it. So much money will be taken off of your bill and that is claimed back, by the venue, from the government.  The scheme runs on a Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday throughout August. Check all terms and conditions as different venues have different policies and restrictions.

On the ‘Eat Out To Help Out’ website you are able to write in different postcodes to see which venues are participating with this offer. This is not a full list apparently so always checking if your favourite restaurant is not listed.

This seems a great opportunity to attend a restaurant or cafe that you have always wanted to try but you deemed it a little too pricey, well now is your chance!

Be aware though as I know some restaurants are already fully booked on the offer days as a lot can not take the amount of orders and have as many people in their venue as they would like. Although if this effects you I would suggest to keep checking as people can cancel bookings and so you never know you may be lucky and get a cancellation.

Is there anywhere that you would particularly recommend? Do you have a favourite restaurant or cafe that you can support during this troubled time.  Do you feel comfortable yet going out to eat?

I really hope that the smaller businesses are assisted by this scheme and it is those I will mainly be supporting.  I have sadly heard of a couple of favourite places of mine closing due to the current situation and my heart goes out to them.  Both of those venues were run by families who placed everything they had to make the business a success but sadly could not see a way through this terrible mess that the world is in today.

If you are able to support this scheme then please do, but also remember that we are still in the middle of a global pandemic so it is paramount that the rules of each venue is followed, whether you agree with them or not, and social distancing and mixing of households still applies.

Stay safe and enjoy!
