The fabulous Dolly Parton seems to be on a mission to save Christmas!
Dolly has brought out her first festive album in around 30 years and if ever we needed some festive cheer then it is definitely this year!!
The album ‘A Holly Dolly Christmas’ was released on October 2nd 2020 and has caused quite a buzz.
I could not wait to hear it and was given a couple of teasers from Dolly on social media to increase the excitement and I was poised and ready on October 2nd to purchase and download the album on Amazon music.
Dolly has written five original songs on the album and there is one additional song co written with Kent Wells and the rest are Christmas favourites that have been played on my house, and probably yours, for years.

As you can see there is a variety of fabulous partnerships and solos and a mixture of traditional and new songs of varying tempos.
I have already listened to the album many, many times. For some reason, although I am a Christmas addict, I have never heard ‘Mary, Did You Know?’. I was not 100% sold on it the first time I heard it, as a Christmas song, but it did remind me of a musical theatre number but I have discovered it is this song that I have found myself singing away throughout the day without realising it.
Dolly is releasing her Christmas film on Netflix ‘Christmas On The Square’ on November 22nd in USA. I am hoping that there is a Christmas miracle and it is also released on UK Netflix around the same time.
Have you listened to the album yet? I would love to hear your views and if you have a favourite song. I can guarantee that, in my house anyway, they will become a tradition and will be played many, many times for hopefully many. many years to come!
