What a weekend!! This weekend was just like the whirl of fabulousness that my weekends used to be, before lockdowns and isolations took over.
It was Pirate Mick’s birthday on Friday. What to do on a birthday in March, in lockdown, whilst in isolation? The possibilities are just endless!! Haha!! In fact the first idea was what to do for food. Many local places are allowed to do take out and delivery. We had a wonderful take out for my birthday from ‘The Curious Cat’ https://overtherhinestonerainbow.blog/2021/01/05/its-my-party-and-i-will-cry-if-i-want-to-birthday-tiers-curiouscat-foodblogger/ and so we decided to order from there again and have delivery instead of collection.
The menu at ‘The Curious Cat’ has been extended to include Abbys , their sister bistro, tapas menu. Pirate Mick and I browsed the menu a few days before and placed an order of BBQ Pork Ribs, Tomato and olive salad, Garlic prawns, Fries, BBQ chicken strips and Lamb kebab. This only came to £28. 45, including a delivery charge of £2.50. There was a confirmation message sent once the order was placed and on the day.
The food arrived exactly at the time requested in brown boxes, keeping the food hot. On opening the boxes it showed what a plentiful amount of food there was, including different sauces. There was more than enough for two full platefuls for each of us.
I can honestly state that the food was absolutely delicious. Obviously there are always things that you prefer over others due to personal taste but we both absolutely loved the ribs, the garlic prawns, the fries and the olives. The sauces were perfect accompaniments as well.
We paired the meal with cocktails, also you can purchase several cocktails with a meal, for home delivery.
I decided to wear my sequin blazer dress from ‘Boohoo’ I purchased this dress before Christmas but obviously have not had an opportunity to wear it out yet. I love the way the iridescent sequins change colour in the light. It should look fabulous under theatre or night club lights. Hopefully it wont be long before I can test this out for myself.
I have been growing my hair and it is just starting to get to a length that I can style it differently, although I am counting down the days until I can get a hair appointment! I am a lover of wigs but want to be able to style my own hair as well. I bought a Babyliss Pro Perfect Curl a few years ago and then cut my hair so it was too short to use. I was delighted to find that my hair is now long enough to curl. The Babyliss Pro Perfect Curl is expensive but a super quick way to get curls that last all night.
Once dressed and ready it was show time. There was a pre catch up before the show on Zoom with friends and the fabulous ‘Merch Steve’ who is the first face you see at La Voix shows, so it was brilliant that tonight was no different.
The show started with stories, anecdotes and songs from the Diva’s including Tina Turner, Cher, Judy Garland and Liza Minnelli. A wonderful sing a long of ‘Oom Pah Pah’ and the obligatory joining in with the legends finale ‘Total Eclipse of the Heart’. It was the best evening entertainment in a long time and it felt fabulous to see live entertainment. La Voix responds and works with her audience amazingly and is the absolute professional. Her shows are starting to be advertised for later in the year in actual theatres, so beg, steal or borrow to get a ticket for live entertainment in 2021! . Until then the On Line shows are a must see and tickets can be purchased through the La Voix Facebook page.
I think Friday night proved that you can have the best Lockdown Isolation Birthday. Great drinks, fantastic food, wonderful friends and fabulous entertainment! If you can not go to the entertainment then allow the entertainment to come to you!
What would be your perfect isolation entertainment? I would love to know!
