There are many hidden gems living in Lincolnshire. It is so easy to forget that we are so lucky to have the seaside and the countryside both a stone throw away.
There are so many little villages and market towns to discover and one of those is the very pretty village of Tealby which is on the edge of the Lincolnshire Wolds a few miles from Market Rasen.
In Tealby there is a village shop, which also encompasses the post office, tourist information and the village hub run by volunteers from the village. There is also a church, a Vintage Tearoom, and a village pub.
There are a couple of small shops, one is a soft furnishing shop at No.1 Kingsway, which is by appointment only. Willow and Lace a bridal boutique and Jims Yard, that sells antiques, salvage and timber.
The Vintage Tearooms has a downstairs room decorated in a very chintz vintage pattern and upstairs a 1940’s room. They serve homemade food and cakes, as well as coffee and afternoon tea. There is also a tea garden available to relax and enjoy your coffee in.
The Kings Head is the oldest thatched pub in Lincolnshire from around 1367. There is a large car park and a large garden, with gazebos available to sit in and benches outside.
Pirate Mick and I visited The Kings Head the other day. It was quite sunny albeit a little chilly but fine to sit outside for a drink. We had not booked and so were delighted they could find us a seat on one of the picnic tables. The place was busy with various groups of people, mainly walkers or families on holiday or a day out. Although it was too cold for me to have a meal others were more adventurous and the meals being brought out looked very appetising. Hopefully we will return as soon as we are able to eat inside again!
There are many walks of varying difficulties from a picturesque stroll to a hike that can be done around, to and from Tealby. It is even part of the Viking Way if a challenge is desired.
Tealby really is a hidden gem and such a pretty little village it is certainly worth a visit if you are in the area.
Have you visited Tealby? Are there any other little villages near you that you think deserve a mention? I would love to know.
