Let’s Go On With The Show ~Theatre ~Musicals ~Entertainment

I am so excited that theatres are opening. I did not realise how much live theatre impacted my life and how much I would miss it if it was taken away and even more so that it was not an option to go.

I had two shows postponed last year. Trixie Mattel arena show has now been announced for 2022 and Jinkx Monsoon and Major Scales theatre tour has not, as yet, given a new date. The rest of the shows I had booked were cancelled.

As soon as I heard that theatres were allowed to open again I promised myself that I would not rush into buying tickets. I had saved money not going to the theatres and I had survived the year without live theatre, although I had spent a lot on virtual shows and events.

I managed to keep this promise for a matter of hours as La Voix published her theatre tour dates straight away. As I wrote in a previous post La Voix Is Back La Voix has been my saviour through lockdown and it is time to support and give that love back. Therefore I immediately booked two venues, one in Grantham and one in York for later in the year. I will be keeping my eye out in case she performs nearer to Lincolnshire as it would be rude not to support if she comes to my doorstep!

One of the shows that I was booked for and was cancelled last year was the musical ‘Six’ which tells the story of Henry VIII six wives in an uplifting and critically acclaimed story. As I had had my tickets refunded I reasoned it was okay to purchase them again. Not really breaking my promise to wait is it!!!

A drag pantomime is coming to the local theatre and as my friends and I enjoy a great drag night out a ticket was booked to see Rapunzel, The Adult Pantomime. However this is more of a night out with friends so can not be counted really in my no show rota!

Now the most recent one that I have just booked is to see ‘Everybody Is Talking About Jamie’ Now I have already seen this on a live performance and loved it. I really wanted to go and see Bianca Del Rio star as Loco Chanel in this show in London 2019 but sadly was unable to find dates suitable well on hearing that Bianca is reprising her role for a limited time on the tour and one of those venues is close to me at Hull New Theatre I could not miss out this time could I ??!!

Reading this back I feel I have kept my promise to myself! Okay, okay, well may be not but how could I miss out on these fantastic shows? I really hope that things will remain open and these shows are the start of many, many more to come.

Do you have any shows booked? I would love to know which ones you are looking forward to.

  1. Last year, musicals I wanted to see got postponed as well- while Wicked was postponed, didn’t get too disappointed due to already seeing it four times. Anastasia and Frozen were postponed as well- those were the biggest disappointments especially Frozen

2021- have the opportunity to see Wicked. 2022- have the opportunity to see Frozen and Anastasia; plus will be able to see Hadestown.
