On 5th September 2020 at 8pm it was the second instalment of the live screening ‘An Evening At Joe’s’ on ‘You Tube’.
Joe Allen’s opened in 1977 and was a large part of the very busy and vibrant West End which suddenly came to a halt in March due to the Covid 19 virus closing theatres all around the country. This has had a devastating effect on the many people and industries that rely on the theatres and Joe Allen’s is one such business that needs our support. They have teamed up with ‘Acting For Others’ charity which provides emotional and financial support to all theatre workers in times, such as this!
There is an act three coming soon so keep your eyes peeled!!
West End legend Ria Jones made a very emotional performance singing ‘As If We Never Said Goodbye’ from Sunset Boulevard, in an empty theatre and one of my personal favourite performers David Bedella performs a solo and again in the finale, which is one of the many highlights of the night, from the musical ‘The Witches Of Eastwick’.
Do not worry if you missed any of it as you are still able to show your support by watching from the links above and donating to the worthy cause. I have donated myself and also have purchased, and wear with pride, my ‘The Show Must Go On’ t-shirt.
I really hope that theatres all around the country, and world, can be saved. I saw a saying recently that stated ‘An Earth Without Art Is Just ‘Eh’ and I so do not want to live in an ‘eh’ world, do you?
Do you think enough is being done to help the entertainment and arts industry or are you of the opinion that money needs to be spent elsewhere? I would love to hear your thoughts and views on this.
