Hello all! Welcome to another instalment of my Coffee and Cake Diary Blog.
Well, summer, for me, has drawn its final curtain. Although the weather in the UK this August, you would be excused for thinking you slept through summer!
I had a lovely quite relaxing summer and actually managed to finish many little jobs around the home that I had been procrastinating on for such a long time! I am actually quite proud of myself!
The Courier
Today I went to the Parkway Cinema Cleethorpes, with Pirate Mick and friends to see the film ‘The Courier’. Have you seen it? It is a true story based on the novel by Greville Wynne (Benedict Cumberbatch). Greville is a business man in the UK and is recruited by the UK’s MI-6 and CIA. He works with a Russian Soviet officer to provide required intelligence on the nuclear war.
Quite a heavy film but well written and portrayed sympathetically. Obviously and tragically there is violence. Although it is allowed for you to often use your imagination on the horrors they encountered.
All actors were perfect for their roles. Special mention however must be for Benedict Cumberbatch and Merab Ninidze who portrayed the Soviet officer Oleg Penkovsky.
The film is set in the 1960’s so you are treated to the wonderful London fashions of the era.
If you are interested in real life stories or spy thrillers then this film is for you.
Getting ready to leave for the cinema The Courier
The last time I went to the cinema was to see ‘Cruella’. Cruella is now available to watch on Disney + and I can not wait to watch it again as I enjoyed it so much the first time.
Have you seen any films recently? Would love to hear some recommendations.
