During the Christmas holiday it was my birthday. This would be a birthday completely different to last year when I went to see La Voix in pantomime in Aylesbury and it was fun of glamour, excitement and fun! This year it was literally tiers before bedtime! The UK government announced the tier restrictions in the battle of the corona virus on my birthday! Luckily we stayed in tier three which meant food venues could still do takeaway. This was good news as I had ordered a take out from one of my favourite restaurants ‘The Curious Cat’ in Grimsby. North East Lincolnshire.
‘The Curious Cat’ has a click and collect on their website. They have a menu to chose from and Pirate Mick and I chose a classic burger, plain dog, fries, halloumi and chilli dip and a ReThink Pink and Lemon Crusta cocktail. It was so nice to have a choice other than turkey and Christmas pudding. I chose the time I wanted, which is spaced out so people do not meet when collecting the food, paid on line, which came to just under £35.00, and made a note of my confirmation number. All I had to do now was look forward to the food!
On my birthday I went to ‘The Curious Cat’ at the desired time. I was directed to the entrance in Abbeygate which enables delivery of the takeaways over a counter, and my order was just being packed. Within a few minutes I was back at home unpacking the food, which was still very hot, and pouring my much needed cocktail. The halloumi was delicious, as was the hot dog. The chilli dip was great to dip the halloumi and the chips in. We ordered extra chips but there was no need as there was plenty. Pirate Mick really enjoyed his burger and the cocktails were a lovely reminder of the many wonderful nights I have had drinking the cocktails in the bar.
So the food was delicious and very enjoyable but nothing can compare to eating in a restaurant. However at this time we have to support our local restaurants and cafes, if the tier allows, and order the takeout food or drink so that hopefully, fingers crossed, they will all still be there when the lockdowns are over and we can go and sit in the restaurants and bars we love.
‘The Curious Cat’ will definitely be one of the venues I will be attending as soon as I am able and I literally can not wait!
Are you able to support local restaurants and restaurants at the moment? Is there anywhere that you particularly recommend? I would love to know and if I can give my support also.
