Join Me In A ‘Stay At Home’ VEDay Street Party! ~Event ~Information

Friday 8th May 2020, marks 75 years since the surrender of Germany from the Second World War. Victory in Europe, known as V E Day should had been celebrated across the nation with street parties, dancing and singing. Sadly one of the biggest threats to people, since the war, has meant that the Corona Virus has put paid to many people’s plans.
We can not join the outside street parties, share food, drink and dance together. The social isolation we are having to do has put paid to that but in true British spirit this should not deter us.
There are many activities planned by various organisations. Television and on line have extensive coverage of events. Highlights include, two minutes silence at 11am, Winston Churchill’s speech at 3pm, BBC Concert and The Queen Speech from 8pm and 9pm Nationwide sing along of ‘We’ll Meet Again’.
I have listed some websites below for you to get an idea of some of the activities happening and things you can get involved with.
So grab your picnics, union jacks, put up that bunting and enjoy your day. Never, since the war, has it been so important to remind our love ones that we will meet again!
Here is your song sheet for Friday!
We’ll meet again
Don’t know where
Don’t know when
But I know we’ll meet again some sunny day
Keep smiling through
Just like you always do
‘Till the blue skies drive the dark clouds far away
So will you please say hello
To the folks that I know
Tell them I won’t be long
They’ll be happy to know
That as you saw me go
I was singing this song
We’ll meet again
Don’t know where
Don’t know when
But I know we’ll meet again some sunny day
Do you have any plans for Friday? Please let me know what they are and I would love to see photographs of what you get up to during the day!
Please, however you celebrate, remember to comply with government guidelines and follow all the social distancing rules.
Remember when it rains look for rainbows 🌦🌈
