Pirate Afternoon Tea ~ The Counting House, Cleethorpes ~Food

Following on from my last post on the guide dogs afternoon tea world record attempt Guide Dogs reminded me that I never posted about the afternoon tea we had just a few days before lockdown.
It was Pirate Mick’s birthday the week before lockdown. Pirate Mick gained his moniker from always wearing a bandana instead of a hat in hot weather and our fabulous friends in Kalkan, Turkey decided it was the perfect name and Pirate Mick was born.
Because of his name I could not believe that a local bar ‘The Counting House’, which had a themed afternoon tea every month, had a Pirate Afternoon Tea for March!! Ahoy Me Hearties! A perfect choice for a Pirates birthday. Countinghousecleethorpes

The Counting House is a popular bar and eatery and was transformed from a bank, hence the name, a few years ago. I recently wrote about the Tipsy Tapas here when I visited with my friend in February! If only we knew then what we know now!
I am really missing my afternoon teas and ladies lunches. This one was particularly special!
There was a lot of food both savoury and sweet and plenty to bring home for later!
It was quite fish based but you would expect that with a pirate tea.
There was even a gold chocolate coin with your coffee. This had really been thought out. I had the ‘Miss Wright’ cocktail which is one of my favourites from ‘The Counting House’.
Here are a few photographs I took of the afternoon tea presented to us.
Hopefully it won’t be too long before we can all socialise again and support our local bars, cafes and restaurants.
If you could have a themed afternoon tea what would you like to see and eat?
Remember when it rains look for rainbows 🌦🌈
