A hidden gem to visit in Lincolnshire is ‘Claythorpe Mill’ near Alford. Have you visited?
I have previously discussed the mill in a post https://overtherhinestonerainbow.blog/claythorpe-water-mill-alford-lincolnshire/ and it is pretty much the same as it was then. However there has obviously been a lot of work completed over lock down.
The bird cages have been moved and to see any of the unusual birds you have to purchase a ticket to go through a gate. If you want to visit for food or drink you are able to enter the café and the marquee without purchasing an admission charge. Booking is essential for the Beer & Burger night every Friday, Pizza nights on Saturdays and special movie nights held throughout the year.
Photograph Album of my visit
Why not spend a few hours with nature and enjoy helping the welfare of these beautiful animals. You are able to purchase bird and fish food to feed the animals and if you purchase a bag I am sure you will return from your visit with many new friends!
The animals are used to people but are wild animals. They roam and it is their home! They love a tranquil life and do not like drama. Therefore dogs are not allowed in the bird areas and everybody must respect the birds and animals environment.
Can not recommend enough this hidden gem to visit in Lincolnshire ‘Claythorpe Mill’.
