Saturday Clothes, And The Rest Of The Week Too!! ~Summer ~Clothes ~Dresses ~Tops ~Fashion

It is that time of year when the weather is supposed to be getting warmer. Can somebody please tell that to the weather gods as it started to snow yesterday and it is currently colder than it has been for most of the winter months. However the clocks have changed and the mornings and nights are lighter so more spring is definitely in the air and that means spring and summer colours are required.

I seem to have a lot of time on my hands at the moment, I wonder why!, so started sorting out my clothes early getting out all my jumpers and thicker fabric clothes and packing them away and putting into the now vacant drawers, shorts, jumpsuits, tops, t-shirts and dresses.

I had quite a big sort out a couple of years ago and last year I was mainly in leisure clothes due to working at home for many months and did not purchase any new summer clothes, meaning that as I put out my summer clothes I did not have that euphoric feeling that summer is coming. What to do? Well after moping about for a short while, huffing and puffing that I had nothing to wear (I do still have a full wardrobe and many drawers but at that moment there was nothing… absolutely nothing!!) I decided to look on line for some new clothes. I would normally hit the shops with full force but due to the UK Covid guidelines this is currently not available so EBay it was!

Because I live in an apartment I do not have unlimited space. My rule is one item of clothing in, one item of clothing out. I decided to categorise my clothes and see if I had any glaring gaps.

  • Knitwear~ Plenty cardigans mainly tightly fitted.
  • Underwear~ Black, nude and white.
  • Dresses~ Many thicker fabric dresses, dresses to go out, out, (You know what I mean!) Vintage dresses
  • Jumpsuits and Playsuits
  • T shirts, mainly with logos or patterns
  • Leggings ~Pattern, bright, black
  • Skirts
  • Trousers~ pattern, jeans
  • Sundresses
  • Tops, mainly vest tops or cold shoulder
  • Jackets ~ Lightweight

So looking at the categorisation I realised that I needed (wanted!) was some plain t shirt tops to go with patterned leggings and skirts. I bought, from EBay, two crew neck t- shirts size 14, new but with the Next label cut out from the neck, in pink and black. They arrived quickly and fitted well. Thin material but it is what you would expect. Price was £5. 69, including delivery.

Another two t- shirts, size 14, from another seller this time made for Marks and Spencer. Round top, short sleeved in coral and Olive. Again the same price and quick delivery. The tops are a thicker material and feel good quality. Perfect fit.

I then decided I needed some dresses. I admit I have plenty but not many just throw on and go dresses which are, in my opinion, essential in the summer. Do not want to miss any of the glorious sun! (Living in the UK the sun does not appear enough to be able to afford to miss it).

I purchased a pre loved ASOS black and white checked summer dress, size 16 for £11.00, which when it arrived I absolutely loved. It is perfect for me as you are able to adjust the shoulder straps and there is a tie front at the bust. I think this will become one of my favourites this year.

Another is ‘Florence and Fred’ at Tesco Orange floral tiered summer dress, size 16 for £14.99. A floaty dress in a cheesecloth type material so will be easy to throw into a suitcase and look great, or wash quickly in the sink, leave out to dry and wear the next day. Again I was pleased when it arrived. There is a small tie at the neck and the sleeves are not too long. It is suitable to wear leggings underneath and can be worn with trainers or shoes, depending on the weather or occasion. It is quite large for me as it is floaty and I may add a small tack at the waist to define a little.

I also purchased two Pretty Little Thing jersey dresses in black and white stripe and plain black, size 16 for £5.99 each. The striped dress is definitely tighter than the black and has a belt made of the same material. I will wear the striped dress as a longline top with leggings or jeans. I would also use it as a cover up on holiday as, like the other items, it will be easy to pack, wash and dry.

So I am happy with my purchases and now just need the sun to shine to be able to get out and about to wear them!

What do you think of the summer additions to my wardrobe? Is there anything I have missed that you can see? Please feel free to comment and let me know!

All I can say now is “Bring on the sun!”
