Vintage On Sea at Sutton On Sea ~Lincolnshire ~Events

Today, after almost two years due to the global pandemic that put everything on hold, I attended, with Pirate Mick, the Vintage festival, ‘Vintage On Sea’ This event held in Sutton On Sea, Lincolnshire is a free weekend yearly event jammed full of live music and dancing, vintage market stalls and decorated shops. Entertainment, street theatre and traditional fairground attractions.

Luckily the sun stayed out for the day and arriving, just after ten o’clock there was already a busy vibe. The street had been closed to vehicles and so people could have plenty of space to move around safely. There is a large car park available close to the seafront and the shops.

Entertainment During The Vintage Weekend

The first entertainment I came across was the lovely 1940’s vocalist Miss Sarah-Jane who was singing outside of The Bacchus Hotel. Throughout the weekend there is a programme of singers and dancers to entertain.

For the children, or young at heart, there was lots of street entertainment, including balloon modelling, magician, comedy acts and a vintage fairground with rides such as swing boats.

The Bacchus Hotel

We went for a morning coffee inside ‘The Bacchus Hotel’. https://www.bacchushotel.co.uk/

It is an iconic hotel building dating back to 17th Century! I have never been inside this venue before but as soon as I entered I absolutely loved the quirky décor. There are various rooms with seating so you can find a quiet corner or sit amongst the social hub of the bar. Viewing the menu it looks like there is a wide range of food to suit all tastes.

I would love to visit here again and maybe try some of the delicious looking food.

It was wonderfully decorated for the vintage event and certainly enhanced the atmosphere of the day.

After coffee we browsed around the outside stalls, selling crafts and food items, listened to some of the 1940’s music and enjoyed the friendly atmosphere of people enjoying being out in the sun.

Shops had joined in with the spirit and many had decorated their windows or brought stalls out onto the street.

The festival is continuing throughout this weekend and I am sure, if they can put on this quality of event during a pandemic, next year will be even bigger and better and I can not wait!

Even when there is not a vintage festival Sutton-On-Sea is worth a visit for a vast stretch of sands, paddling pools and parks and plenty of places for a coffee and cake and just watching the world go by!
